Original Art, Les Vagues (the waves), original plein air painting on linen canvas by Deborah Chapin, Marine art, Brittany France, Seascape , marine artist
“Les Vagues”, is original art, a marine art piece as part of group of plein air oil paintings of the coast in various types of weather, part of personal collection going into the gallery for sale.
About the Process: I like to paint several smaller paintings, original art as plein air paintings. working myself up to larger painting, as I learn the subject matter. Gradually developing a portfolio which expresses the full character of the place. This piece was painted along the Brittany Coast near Diben. I believe that a place must be explored and appreciated and allowed to seep in at it’s own pace. I am not a slam bam thankyou…. kind of artist. In my opinion speed is antithetical to art. I think deeply and like to delve into the nature of the place, learning the nooks and crannies and developing a deep appreciation of its beauty. Instant gratification is not my thing, staying during long visits of a month or more exploring the culture, the history and the people of a place is my type of exploration.
Please note that these are one-of-a-kind paintings, this piece come with a 3.5″ x3″ hardwood moon gold leaf frame, I sell my work directly to the collectors thus am able to sell at lower prices than my peers who pay steep gallery commissions. Top paintings in my collection can go for double this price and still be priced fairly in the marketplace. Please see my credentials.
