Wave Painting, Breakfast on the Beach by Deborah Chapin

Wave painting, Original Plein air Painting by Deborah Chapin entitled “Breakfast on the Beach” 14×30 plein air oil.

Wave painting, Original Plein air Painting by Deborah Chapin entitled “Breakfast on the Beach” 14×30 plein air oil.    There is nothing like painting the surf on location where you become part of what you are painting. The wind and surf spray mix together with the cold morning chill all becoming part of the painting. Sometimes you are successful and have a chance to really just enjoy being alive and revel in the moment. This is one of the lessons that the wildlife demonstrates every time you go out on location. Sure there are harsh environments and bad weather days but what a thrill it is to fly along the surf on a bright summer’s morning.  Read More

Wetland Painting, Icing Up, Plein air painting oil by Deborah Chapin

By Deborah Chapin | Jul 2, 2021

This plein air oil painting shows the wetlands are in their most beautiful.  During fall and transition seasons, they come to life as birds migrate and changes begin to happen so fast.  Transitions from summer to fall and fall to winter. This is the tail end of the fall season depicted as the cold begins to set in and ice begins to form.  This plein air oil painting was painted on location as the sunset and the moon rose.    This piece was exhibited in the Paint America Competition and South Eastern Wildlife Exhibition.    I am making select pieces from my collection available for sale for the first time since their initial exhibits.  Signed by the artist.    Contact Us About This Piece please include the title in your subject line.

Original Oil, Moonrise, Plein air painting oil by Deborah Chapin

Moonlight is a favorite subject of mine.   This plein air oil painting describes the light as it fades and the change from the last light of the day to the first light of night and the shimmering moon casts it magic.  In the fall the moon overlays the sunset creating soft light landscapes and seascapes which enchant the mind and spirit.  This piece was a set of paintings which led up to this piece.  This plein air oil painting was painted on location as the sunset and the moon rose.  It was exhibited in the 2007 Arts for the Parks exhibition and toured through the museum circuit. Signed by the artist.  Contact Us About This Piece please include the title in your subject line.
