Maine Marine Artist Deborah Chapin is Painting a series of coastal art, painted on location with the rising moon.

This was painted on Pemaquid Point in Maine in late spring before summer had truly arrived as the moon rose on a cloudy dusk.  Contact Us About This Piece if you have questions, please include the title in your subject line.

painting the surf en plein air while the sun is rising and the light is changing is the ultimate challenge. As one of the few people in the world who can do it I love it when it comes out like this. Makes a truely unique work of art, never seen before or since. That’s what makes it collectible.

There is nothing like painting the surf on location where you become part of what you are painting. The wind and surf spray mix together with the cold chill in the air, all becoming part of the painting.  Sometimes you are successful and have a chance to really just enjoy being alive and revel in the moment. This is one of the lessons that nature demonstrates every time you go out on location.

Makes it truly original and rare and that is what make REAL art collectible.”
