Art on linen Canvas, Floral artwork, Red Velvet Irises
This piece was one of two paintings painted in the Brittany garden in France during early spring one year at the house that I rented for painting. I loved these travels, I would pack the day full of projects because it was like being a kid in a candy store. I decided to paint these irises because of their wild nature, I loved the positively sensual lines and the velvety feel of the petals of the flower. Floral art can be a difficult topic even though they are sitting still their character extract energy and vision from the artist. I realize now that many of my paintings are painted in a realistic style but are actually nature abstract because I choose to hone in on the subject and not the setting in which it is growing.
