Buyers of art have been told they are "investing in art" whenever they walk into a gallery or a show and buy art. They worry about making the right choice. Buying a giclee print is not investing in art. Why does it have to be? What you are doing is similiar to buying a cubic diamond. It looks beautiful, it serves the purpose of decorating, but it is not an original and hence instead of paying $10,000 you are paying $500. Purchasing a giclee is simply purchasing a piece of art to improve the beauty of the home, to enjoy, to enrich your life.

Dealers may tell you that a print should show all the texture of the original oil. WHY? To me the textural quality of an oil can't be reproduced photographically and the image loses all its aesthetic. You have the image and the color of the artwork but why try to imitate an oil on paper? Isn't just the image what you are buying and what you like?

As a buyer of art you can enjoy art without investing alot and still have the image to enjoy but don't expect the diamond for cubic prices.
